cool

nice design and concept, but horrible programming.
the wall/floor/roof interaction with the char were poor...
other than that, good game.
oh and the song wasnt good either, it was relaxing but i got sick of it after a minute.

interesting

i really liked the game.
good character development, plot, and the game was pretty clean.
there are a few problems, of course, like the char's movement, but other than that the programming was good. I understand this is just a class assignment, but i really hope you guys keep on working =]
here are some advices for the next RPG :
-making status (money, strengh, dextery, magic ...)
-more NPC interaction
-and i know you had 2 weeks to do this, but if you do something out of class, try making a super long story =]

This time there won't be any reason for me to create such a unwell-made since this time I got no time limit xD. I've come up with the idea of status, NPC quests (also its interactivity: moving around), and I'm now covering up the story.

very good game

just a few comments(if you are even reading this)
yeah it gets very frustrating dying over and over again..
the controls were a little messy..
other than that very good job, really liked the backgrounds and the art !!

Is it mainly because UP isn't jump?

I suppose this control scheme is made for people who are used to using emulators... Hmm.

when i listen to this, i close my eyes and dream im playing zelda, riding epona on the hyrule field, and i feel bad for using all those MIDI sounds, while people like you make songs so beautifull with real instruments...

I get so nostalgic over Zelda. haha. It's definitely an awesome story and so capturing.
and no worries, the piano is midi.

Midi is sometimes cool, it's just lame when people say real music is only midi and hard bass and thick beats. But oh well.

thanks bro, no actually it only took a few days to make, i just used a lot of awesome plugins to get a quality sound. This is actually a fairly old song of mine, check out some of my new stuff because I have definitely improved and upgraded my instrument arsenal since this. ;]
